Star: after the civil war, it was only natural, once black slaves were freed, to try to free the other slave women, abolitionists lucretia mott, elizabeth cady stanton refused seating at 1840. It would be in churches whose pastors supported the mvmnt: why start newspapers of their own, mainstream newspapers, led by men, opposed and ridiculed those who advocated women"s rights. War: stanton and anthony started their own publication, the revolution, in 1868-first major forum for women"s equality. It went far beyond suffrage and pushed women"s property, divorce, educations and abortion rights. Laste fewer than 3 years bc financial backing by a racist hurt: 15 amendment passed- black men should not have the right to vote before white women . It was followed by the more moderate women"s journal, women"s.
