Looks at history and culture of thee terms (power, authority, governance) How is it that you control other people"s behavior? (force, enticement ect) The ability to exercise one"s will over others. If you have power over another you have the ability to govern. You can have power and no authority to have that power. Some authorities have no power (not seen as legitimate, ineffective) How language and power work with respect to the menu (restaurant menu) Some people see the menu as an authoritarian structure. Others see it as a set of guidelines (good with authority) The rest don"t view the menu as legitimate at all (taking over power with no authority to do so) High stakes, people commit suicide and murder over injustice.
