Ex/ intervention designed for children with autism, may also be appropriate for a child with sli. Aims for responsive conversational skills in everyday communication contexts. Parents are trained to be the child"s primary language teacher. Focuses on vocabulary development and early semantics. Take a verbal and nonverbal adult-child turns. Creates a conversational framework for interaction, established childs equitable role in interaction. Encourages child-initiated utterances; maintains taking of turns. Informs the child that the adult is attending to the child"s activities; bridges child actions to words. Meaningful, related responses encourage child communication and provide context-specific language and models. Children with language impairment require multiple repetitions to acquire a new target forms. Wait time helps children with l1 to process and formulate language. Explicit cues, visual cues, the tactile cues help. An effective approach facilitating grammatical development, above 2 word level.
