Pidgins a blend of languages to create their own language. Creoles start as pidgin, gets added and emerges as a new language. Pidgins - a language that uses words from other languages (languages in contact with) but has its own simple grammar. Ex: hawaiian pidgeon english (immigrants from japan, korea, philippines) Creoles - acquire pidgin as native language and add to it, becomes more complex and a new language. Older learns had more trouble learning about the more complex component. Our brain is more plastic when we are younger easier for us to learn. The children had their own idiosyncratic signs, but no shared language. Developed into nsl and became more structurally complex. Older learners were less able to master the complexities. Development relied on younger children acquiring/using the language.
