Is fear of crime worse than crime itself: talk about personal safety, the media- graphic portrayal of violence, reality t. v shows- dramatic- false information, where we live- leads us to believe we are likely victims. Victimization paradox: a high level of fear with a low likelihood of victimization. Higher likelihood to be involved in assault and homicide: sex trafficking, gangs, drug dealing.
