Many early films had no camera movement everything was staged as though it were a theatre production. It can affect the image by size and shape of the frame, the way onscreen and off screen spaces are defined, and the way it moves in relation to mise-en-scene. It defines distance, angle, and height of the vantage point. Extreme long shot scale of the object shown is small, i. e. building, landscape, crowd of people. It can also be called a bird"s eye view . Long shot scale of the object shown is small, i. e. a human figure. It allows scenes to show characters in their entirety in a single frame. Medium long shot an object four to five feet high can be mostly seen in a shot. Not the entire human figure is visible in this shot, but purpose is to show characters in their environment.
