PHY 132 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Relative Change And Difference, Electric Potential, Internal Resistance
Document Summary
Abstract: this lab looked at testing kirchhoff"s law for loops and junctions. The second part of the lab looked at maximizing the effective power drawn from a non-ideal batter. The loop law values were 0. 004v for abcda, 0. 001v for dcfed. The corresponding percent difference for each in order were 0. 110 %, and 0. 06 %. Similarly the values of the junction law were found to be. 0. 037 ma for junction c and 0. 042 ma for junction d with a corresponding percent difference of. The electric potential found in the experiment from the graph was. 10. 04 v while the experimental resistance was 90. 51 . These values differed from the theoretical values by 0. 40 % and 0. 57 %. From the derived equation of the power expression, it was further found that rl must equal r0 in order to maximize power. Overall the lab was successful, most values had low percent errors and error was well defined throughout the lab.
