Among egyptian dynasties mentioned in biblical book of kings ii and book chronicles ii. Taharqa (ruled 690-664 bce) fought assyrian invasion of egypt and established new capital at meroe: meroe. Est. as kushite capital 656 bce by taharqa"s descendents. Increasingly looked east (ethiopia and arabia) and south (sub saharan africa) rather than north (egypt)
