Forum for everyday people to express themselves. Voice for those not heard in mainstream. Low tech, low cost, anywhere, and anytime. Local control means representation for the people, not the government, corporations,etc. The values, standard, and patterns of behavior of a particular group of people. Anything that affects a person"s particular way of thinking about the world. Culture doesn"t just refer to a country of origin or an ethnic group; there are cultures within religions, schools, families, social groups,etc. We often belong to more than one cultural group. Fads and fashions that dominate mainstream media for a limited time. Racism, sexism, discrimination, economic power, religious and social views. The purpose of the theatre of the people is to promote cultural awareness by giving a voice to all members of society by increasing multiculturalism. Shortcuts in thinking that attribute a generalized identity to people who are not like us. Written and performed by members of that culture.
