If employees" thinking is aligned with the positive norms of an organization, these norms are stronger and there is more probability of the impact being positive. The same outcomes can be expected from political correctness (pc) norms. To increase group creativity, you should loosen norms. Research on groups that are gender-diverse show that strong pc norms increase creativity of groups. This is because clear expectations about interactions that occur between males and females lessen the uncertainty about expectations of a group. This lets members express their creative ideas easier without combatting stereotype norms. Positive group norms only bring positive outcomes if other factors are present. Not everyone is equally susceptible to positive group norms, no matter how powerful norms can be.
