Gives more detail to article iii: most important because it makes the judiciary branch something. In 1801 the courts are used a political weapon. Cases appealed to sc through two routes: federal system- examples on canvas not tested, state courts, 9 sc justices, key vocab. Jurisdiction: courts authority to hear a case, requires jurisdiction over people involved and subject at matter. Can"t take it to other courts: political question - a nonjusticiable issue. Is a question about how a branch does its job: not over constitutionality, types, original. Involved in marbury: hearing a case to see if the lower court was right, appellate. Case has been appealed: writ of certiorari, when the sc agrees to hear a case on appeal.
