Nosferatu:
• Graf (Count) Orlok
o The main character
o Count Orlok is a vampire from Transylvania
o is known as "The Bird of Death"
▪ who feasts upon the blood of living humans.
o He is believed to have been created by Belial, the lieutenant
demon of Satan.
o Orlok dwells alone in a vast castle hidden among the rugged
peaks in a lost corner of the Carpathian Mountains.
▪ The castle is swathed in shadows, and is badly neglected
with a highly sinister feel to it.
o Locals live in terror of Orlok and never venture out after dark.
• Thomas Hutter
o Hutter is sent by his employer to complete business contracts
with Orlok and winds up being held hostage in his dark, gothic
castle.
• Ellen Hutter
o she sacrifices herself to Count Orlok so he will be destroyed by
the rising sun.
• Harding
o When Hutter takes off for Transylvania to finalize contractual
business with Count Orlok, he entrusts the care of his wife
Ellen into hands of his close friends Harding and his sister,
Annie.
o Harding appears to be somewhat well-off financially
• Professor Bulwer
o appears only in a few scenes
o he is an extremely minor character in the proceedings with a
minimum of screen time.
o he is a friend of Thomas Hutter before he meets Count Orlok
and he never meets the vampire face to face.
