Lots of studies show a strong efficacy of psychotherapy for children/adolescents. Consistently demonstrate significant improvement in comparison to children who receive no treatment. Various approaches have been found to be equally effective. More specific questions now have been addressed . Cbt has been demonstrated as effective for anxiety disorders, oppositional defiant disorders, depression, hyperactivity, enuresis (problems controlling bladder), and sleep disorders. Play therapy = effective for kids exposed to trauma. A form of play therapy called trauma-focused cbt = especially effective. Play therapy is extremely effective for children for externalizing and internalizing disorders. A brief video on play therapy for children exposed to trauma. Kindergartners are more likely to be expelled than any other group. All students in desiree"s head-start program have experienced trauma in their short lives. Treatment can focus on parents/caregivers, as well. Allows them to then support their child.
