Cultural collisions: the aztecs and cort s: explanations for victory/defeat. Montezuma was a terrible leader/could not figure out what to do/indecisive. Those who were dominated by the aztecs (imperialists) chose the lesser of the two evils > spaniards. Superiority of the spaniards in weaponry and transportation. Powder is often wet & not many horses. Spaniards won indecisively and quickly because of the decisive importance of communication. A collision of misunderstandings that could most adaptively respond to the confusion. What wins is the effective use and interpretation of communication. The side that can responds (the best) wins: aztecs & communication. Finalist interpretation (what they expect to happen) Priests & scholars went with the conquest=first anthropologists. Curious about the exploration= documents, collect ancient books, learned the languages.
