Document Summary

Replication of rna tumor viruses takes place through a dna intermediate (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) There is a new polymerase inside the virions of rna tumor viruses. Src protein- encodes for tyrosine kinase (phosphorylating tyrosine) Rna converts back to dna through reverse transcriptase. Genome (dna/rna) capsid (protein that encapsulates the genome) Envelope protein (helps w. entry into cells) They used rsv because it is efficient and effective. So they infected a cell with morphr then waited a few days to infect and they see both morphs in the cell which shows that with morphf there"s no preference of the virus; cells can be double infected. Act d is an antibiotic that inhibit the synthesis of rna (binds to dna and prevents formation of rna) which inhibits more of the virus from being made. First they treat cells with act d to prevent more virus from being made.
