Document Summary
Stroke volume (sv): the amount of blood ejected from one ventricle during systolic event (approximally 70ml). End diastolic volume (edv): volume of blood in ventricle at the end of the diastole (time in which we are lling). This is the max, the most of the blood that the heart will have at any time. These values are the same for both ventricles (right and left). End systolic volume (esv): volume of blood in ventricle at the of the systole. Ejection fraction: percentage of edv that gets out (sv). Every part of the cycle of the contraction of the heart does not take the same time. Isovolumetric atrioventricula systole is very short compared to others. The heart spends a lot of time in diastole, double compared to systole. When we talk about atrial systole, we talk about losing the blood. Ventricles are pushing blood out against gravity (contrary to atria). So we can talk about end diastolic volume only for atria.
