Mostly, in the multinational eastern europe, where in the ottoman empire everyone became free. In the end of the world war, austria-hungary get divided. Then the russian empire loses poland, lithuania, finland etc. This is influenced by wilson"s 14 points in january 1918. Where he says that territorial rearrangement after ww1 had the right to self-determination into account . Under league of nations this was done: carry out plebiscites to ask people which country they wanted to belong to. Due to this, a number of border conflicts was settled: self-determination was never enshrined in international law. People over here mean that one country cannot interfere in another country"s domestic affairs. And that people within each country should maintain their own domestic affairs. However, people can be interpreted differently: 1960: membership of un grows: a lot of former countries gained independence.
