Actually, teen birth and pregnancy rates now at historic lows. Teen rates higher in the us southern countries could be due to lack of access to contraception, religious views on abortion, more conservative (less liberal) views. 60% of married mothers with children under age 6 are employed. 40% of all families with children under age 18. Number of unmarried cohabitating couples has increased. Single fathers are better off economically than single mothers and white single parents fare better economically than african american single parents.
