NPSY 11b Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Premotor Cortex, Graph Paper, Trichromacy
Document Summary
Motor behavior 1: the purpose of perception is to drive action, action changes perception how you perceive depends upon your movement, your ability to perceive things visually is driven by your ability to move. Primary motor cortex: directly in front of the central sulcus is the primary motor cortex, movement fields = movement that the neuron codes/responds to. In a movement field, the neural response is going to be the thing that happens just before the movement because it is responsible for responding first, and then driving the movement. If you are going to move and your brain is going to control it, your brain has to respond first. Firing in neuron that codes for a preferred direction (180 ) will inhibit firing in a neuron for the exact opposite direction (0 ), but will cause spontaneous background firing for a neuron mideway (270 )
