Continuous variation: phenotypic variation that falls along a continuum rather than in discrete units or categories (e. g. body mass in modern humans). Cytoplasm: internal fluid (called cytosol), dissolved materials, and cellular organelles in a cell, except for the nucleus. The cytoplasm is the primary site for chemical activity in the cell.
