Document Summary

Title: an investigation into blade thickness of shaded and unshaded toyon plants of chico, Environmental issue: rise of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Abstract/intro: today, climate change is an environmental issue that is affecting everyone on. Earth, from plants, animals, to our oceans and even us humans. One detrimental aspect that causes climate change is carbon dioxide emissions. These carbon dioxide emissions have been heavily impacting plants causing them to grow thicker leaves mainly because of the higher sun exposure that is upon them. We had predicted that the sun will on average have thicker leaves than shade plants. This will help further understand how the thickness of plant leaf blades can help researchers to articulate the effects of climate change. In the research done, a ruler was used to measure 30 toyon plant leaves first when the plant was in the shade and then later on when the plants were exposed to sunlight.
