Science- based on facts (= things that can be proved/repeated) Principles = idea proven true over long periods, now treated as facts. Not the only way to study the world. Sci- method: tool for answering sci- q"s it. Ex- dimetrodon had tall spines on its back. 2- hypothesis- educated guess based on your prelim info, try to answer the q. Ex- spines were for defense, like a shield. Ex- if spines were for protection, they should be strong to keep other animals from biting. Don"t have to re-create an event for a hypo- Ex- can study dino extinction even though it happened long ago. Some hypo- hard to test, but that doesn"t = a bad hypo- Bad hypo- no way to test to see if it"s correct. Good hypo- harder to test, but complex does not mean bad". Sounds weird, but it is testable, so it"s good.
