Dmitri medvedev under putin in his second term. Originally federation council was comprised of 2 representatives from 85 regions of country. Changed to governors and speakers of parliament. Putin has changed it to suit his own needs. Lower chamber: duma (house of commons) 85% of power, 400 members. Part 1 225 members elected from single member districts, 225 election districts, each district elects one person, nominates candidates to be in part 2. Part 2 the other 225 elected by party lists. Domestic economic system: free market with strong safety net (welfare, social security) Economic relations with outside: partial integration global economy. Traits of post soviet state: strong central state, good to know law, better to know judge. West attitudes: west culture, not opposed to west, not the west though. Economic relations with outside: full integration in global marketplace. Domestic economic system: free market, limited government, little safety net.
