PARAPHILIC DISORDERS (ego syntonic, some part of the symptoms the person enjoys) -
target of their sexual attraction
The person is sexually attracted to something that might cause them distress. The person must
be having clinically distress or impairment.

manifest by urgencies or behaviors
○ Shoes more attractive than the person wearing
○ Person more attracted to the persons elbows than the person
○ Example: foot fetish
2. Transvestic Disorder - person has 6 months of recurrent urges to cross dress as the
other gender
○ If the person is transgender it is not this
○ If the person is in the drag show for entertainment, it is not this
○ Dressing in clothes of the opposite sex as a means of becoming sexually
aroused

nonconsenting other (someone who does not consent)
1. Sexual Sadism Disorder - the person has fantasies arising form the physical or
psychological suffering of someone else

○ In order for it to be a diagnosis: must be causing the person performing the act
distress, or must be done on a nonconsenting person
2. Voyeuristic Disorder - sexual arousal from observing a person who is naked and this
person is unaware they are being watched
○ This is nonconsenting
○ Illegal
