Personal issues are a result of the society we live in. Helps us see opportunities and constraints in our lives. Cultural universals- everyone has the same ideas. Killing people is bad, burring the dead. Theory statement as to how or why two or more things are related. Theoretical perspectives way of looking at issues that guide thoughts and research. Sees society as an area of inequality. Focuses on aspects of society that benefit some over others. Example- if you couldn"t be poor why would you work. Sees society as an area where parts work together to create stability. Examines functions of different components of society. Goal is to keep the wheel going around. Going to school- to learn and get a job. Sees society as a product of human interactions. What is real depends on who is interacting and how they are experiencing it. Kids told they are smart, they will try harder.
