Positive right- a right to an entitlement, obligates others to do something (voting, pay) Negative right-a right to non-interference or autonomy; obligates others to refrain from action (right to free speech, privacy, religion) Societal right- a right granted by the existing laws of a particular society (voting, rights) Human right- basic, or natural rights independent of laws and societies- usually based upon being a morally relevant person. Principle of liberty- everyone ought to be as free as possible.
