Because of their race, sex, social status, etc. Notion that media hold power and women are underclass. During wwii thousands of women were given jobs while men are serving. Government used the media to change their attitude of changing norms. Conservative people claimed to not like the liberal acts of women. Media enhancing violent behavior and other erratic actions. Men being taught not to be soft and be emotionally constipated. Be the change you want to see in the world - mahatma gandhi. We give in to the notion that we should have name brands or dress a certain way to achieve the respect we want. We have the potential of being emotionally healthy but it depends on the individual"s willingness to not give in to media and conform themselves to their beliefs.
