Efficient government is able to devolpe policies and maintain order. Control to work efficiently and make unpopular choice such as taxes and laws. Checks on government which outline what government can do and serve at the benefit of people. There maybe some sacrifice between efficiency and limitations but the question what should be sacrificed more of. Different institutional designs are set to ensure accountability, participation, and contestation. Result is different forms of representation, policy making etc. Separation of powers separation of origin: direct election for both separation of survival: both have fixed terms strive for re-election. Defining presidential government: chief executive is popularly elected, terms fixed by law, executive elects the cabinet. Severs under the president and are from the same party. Interchangeable: president has some lawmaking ability. Elections in the u. s: cost are greater than needed and length of campaigns are growing.
