There is no need for special medical procedures or examinations. Almost anyone can use them (except those sensitive or allergic to the ingredients). Barrier methods are often not used correctly, which can lead to unintended pregnancies. They are easy to buy in drugstores and some supermarkets. Once learned, insertion is easy and may be done by your partner as part of sex. Some spermicides may irritate the penis or vagina; switching brands may solve this problem.
