Some women get pregnant but they don"t know that they"re pregnant. The study of how humans grow, develop, and change throughout the lifespan. Nature and nurture both influence development (interactionist view), each has degrees of influence. Continuity vs. stages- gradual vs. major change. Height/weight (continuous) vs. cognitive/ moral development (stages) Ex: continuous change in physical appearance of baby. Stability vs. change- same characteristic vs. changing characteristics. People in general if they are shy since they were a little, they will have a tendency to be shy when they grow up too. (stability) A person"s personality is changeable but not easy because we people like to act in a certain way. Ex: the prof is actually an introvert but she learned to become an extrovert.
