Document Summary

Learned and innate behaviors- animal behaviors are learned or innate. Innate- any inborn (genetic) behavior as a result of maturation (a passage of time) only, not from practice. Humans have reflexive behavior (single response) and learned behaviors, but not innate behavior (series of responses). Learning- relatively permanent (it"s not literally permanently, you can relearn but it"s not easy to relearn) change in behavior (potential) or mental processes from practice or experience. Conditioning: process of learning associations between environmental and internal stimuli and responses; no stimuli, no response. Classical conditioning- reflexive, involuntary responses to stimuli other and original one. Operant conditioning- voluntary responses to stimuli through consequences of previous acts. Cognitive learning theory- learning through thought processes underlying behaviors. Observational learning theory- learning behaviors by watching someone else perform behaviors. Reflex- an autonomic response to a stimulus. Emotional responses- intense feelings (love, fear, etc)
