Sacred is not the same thing as religious. Some objects, places, and events are special and yet not necessarily religious. Sacred stuff helps us perform sacred actions. Sacred stuff help us express our beliefs through visible signs that separate them from. I is the bridge between belief (the representation of opinions) and action commonplace matters. Sacred stuff also helps us to feel more emotionally connected to our beliefs, actions, and others in our group. Sacred stuff often inspires feelings of sacredness in us. These feelings might include: safety and protection, love, belonging, wholeness, peace and tranquility, ecstasy, joy, relief, accomplishment, awe. Often exists outside the purview of institutionalized forms of religion. Altars are places where our world touches the sacred. We create, negotiate, and maintain relationships with spirits at our altars. Offerings to spirit beings (food, flowers, money, etc. ) Images of spirit beings and other religious art. Tools for religious practice: objects that serve symbolic and pragmatic functions.
