Week 4: disorders common among children and adolescents. Children of all cultures typically experience some emotional and behavioral problems. Adolescent can also be a dif cult period. Bullying ranks as a major problem in the minds of most youngsters, often a bigger problem than racism and peer pressure to try sex or alcohol. At least 1/5 of all children and adolescents in north america also experience a diagnosable psychological disorder. Boys diagnosed with disorders outnumber girls, but adult women are diagnosed with psychological disorders than adult men. When surveyed, parents underestimate their children"s worries and concern about school performance, general worries, nancial problems, and physical appearance. A particular concern among children and adolescents is that of being bullied. Surveys throughout the world have revealed repeatedly that bullying often ranks as a bigger problem than racism and peer pressure to try sex or alcohol.
