Going to a shopping mall consist of many representations, but what many don"t know is the representation of races, ethnicity, gender and person isn"t equal. So to test this statement out, i went to a target located in flushing, queens and on a scavenger hunt to find items showing different types of representation. Before mentioning my findings, the location i went to contributed a lot to the items as the area around flushing consist mainly of chinese population. I did my best to count all the barbie dolls and i found out that there were approximately 120. Of these 120, approximately 31-33 were white while the rest weren"t. The diversity depicted is not that bad, i expected more whites because of how our country is mostly made up of white american. Then i searched the entire gift card section to find either hanukkah, kwanza or christmas cards and i found none.
