Document Summary

Synapses-transference of information from one cell to another (anywhere where two cells communicate with each other-transfer information) Electrical synapse- gap junctions connect cells and allow the transfer of information to synchronize the activity of a group of cells (ap of one membrane will directly enter (start depolarizing) adjacent cell) Gap junctions to help quickly depolarize-allow plasma membrane of one cell to difuse with another and then start depolarizing with the next cell. Chemical synapse-one way transfers of information from a presynaptic(generating and releasing neurotransmitters) neuron to a postsynaptic(cell that receives the neurotransmitters) neuron. They"re released from neurons and then bind to receptors on the next cell and that"s how they communicate. Synaptic cleft-space between them where the neurotransmitter will travel through. Post-synaptic membrane-has the receptors for the neurotransmitters to bind to. Axodendritic-axons of one neuron directly connects to the dendrites of another.
