Anthropology: the study of humanity, human society, societies- human groups endowed with social institutions and social norms, it has structure and rules on how to behave and interact with others, human nature, human past. This means we will be faced with ways of doing that appear irrational: ex- azande- tribe in africa that believes that illness is caused by something outside of the body. It is a social source that you have to correct (a person caused you to be sick). A witch is a person who has the ability to cause you to become sick because he/she has feelings of jealousy or envy (negative energy: holistic- look at the big picture. We understand it then we can choose to agree or disagree: draw on different knowledge from other disciplines, whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Tapestry- how individual threads come together to give meaning to the whole design.
