BIOSC-116 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Tachycardia, Diastole, Ventricular Tachycardia
Document Summary
Normal sinus rhythm see normal p, qrs and t waves. Respiratory sinus arrhythmia this is a normal situation, seen in some people. See normal p, qrs and t waves but the heart rate varies with respiration the rate increases on inspiration and decreases on expiration. Sinus bradycardia slower than normal (less than 60 times per minute). This can be due to parasympathetic stimulation, hypothyroidism or physical conditioning. Sinus tachycardia faster than normal (more than 100 times per minute). This can be due to sympathetic stimulation or fever. First degree av nodal block- the av node is having difficulty getting the action potentials on through to the rest of the conduction system. Second degree av nodal block there is even more difficulty than in first degree. See prolonged pr intervals and see some p waves that are not followed by qrs complexes (those action potentials are not getting through to the ventricles at all)
