Non-nurturant: landscaping career that has turned into waged labor. The work of caring for the house and cleaning has become a housekeeping. Can range from food production to the care that it takes to make up communities of human beings. The work it takes to be a human being. The people who work these kind of jobs tend to be women or people of color. Unc"s housekeeping system is the biggest department in all of the unc institutions in north carolina in terms of staff number. Unc housekeepers were the only housekeepers and workers who were in the level 12 working ban. Led to a case (that the housekeeping won) which revealed that they were being discriminated based on race. Led to a gained autonomy over their working lives. The unc institution have made specific changes to ensure that this doesn"t happen again. More than 40% of the staff on campus are refugees.
