Latent inhibition- when we"ve experienced a cs alone many times, it"s difficult to condition it to another stimulus. Highly known vs. novel brands: acquisition of fears: little albert, watson and reyner. Paired white rat (cs) with loud noise (ucs) After days, albert exhibited fear of rat and similar stimuli (anything white or furry) Offers a way to get rid of phobia. Treat phobia of rabbits by paring rabbits with candies: disgust reaction. Cs associated with disgusting ucs will elicit disgust cr. Acquiring behaviors as a result of the outcome or consequence of those behaviors. The organism gets something out of the response. E. g. the trainer uses biscuit as a treat to teach a dog to sit. Reward is independent of what the organism does. Good for learning physiological and emotional responses. Response emitted in a seemingly voluntary fashion. Organism must take response to get reward.
