Jobs of Kidney
-Remove wastes
-Regulate blood volume and blood pressure
-Regulate blood composition
-Salts, acid/base, amino acids, sugars
-Regulate red blood cell number
Urinary Tract
-Kidneys
-Ureters
-Urinary bladder
-Urethra
Kidney
-Kidneys are bean shaped and retroperitoneal in the posterior abdomen
-L kidney is typically longer and nearer to the midline, the right kidney sits lower than the

-Superior pole of the kidney is covered by the adrenal gland
-Anterior surface is covered by the liver or stomach and spleen
-Kidneys is posterior to the right and left colic flexures
-The kidneys are enclosed in an arrangement of fascia and fat
-Kidney is covered by a thick fibrous capsule
-the medial margin is the hilum of the kidney
-Renal cortex
-Renal medulla
-Renal pyramids → minor calyx → major calyx → renal pelvis
