Document Summary
Book (vol 7 starts on bottom of 604 in 7th edition of psychology by peter gray ) People vary in the degree to which they see themselves as fixed entities or malleable. A fixed entity meaning you are where or what you are for a reason and you have no way of improving because of it. Malleable meaning that in whatever stage in life they"re in, they can see themselves improving or learning. They are in a constant state of development. Rebound from setbacks rather than staying stuck from failures. Your position on it makes a big difference in your approach to life and how you think. Experiments have shown that people can be taught to think of themselves as malleable. College students were shown a film on neurons and the brain constantly growing through life. People who had seen this video were more enthusiastic about learning and had a higher gpa than those who didn"t.
