Right hemisphere of brain controls the left side of the body. Left hemisphere of brain controls the right side of the body. It is not a determining factor of which hemisphere the language portion of the brain is in an individual. Uncontrollable vocal outbursts or muscular movements ( ticks ) Linked to learning disabilities and tourette syndrome. About 10-12% of the world is left-handed. Traced through tools and cave paintings of neanderthals. No brain dominance in terms of size in other animals. Humans are bipedal, but we can use our arms in language to communicate. Bipedalism created the possible, but not the inevitable, conditions for development of human language and hemispheric laterality. Handedness is not genetic, just a neural possibility. Left-handedness must confer some type of advantage because of its persistence for at least 2 million years. Both l & r handedness has advantages. Dyslexia, schizophrenia, autism, stuttering, tourette syndrome, add, mental retardation.
