Kierkegaard: because the self is the thinking order of relating of itself to being eternal, humans are for. Sinning doesn"t e(cid:448)er fully go a(cid:449)ay, despair doesn"t e(cid:448)er fully go a(cid:449)ay (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause it is so diffi(cid:272)ult to be the best version of yourself, to be fully who you are meant to be. Idea that god creates the identity of who you are, god is the one that knows you best. First order despair --> everyone is in despair because they are not living up to their full potential, but they don"t know they"re in despair so they can"t try and change. In the process of thinking about despair (the feeling of despair, the experience of despair) you are learning something, it is productive: this is dialectical. First form of despair --> i am not living up to who i am: to actualize yourself on the best version of what you think you can be.
