Many powerful mental processes operate in the unconscious, without our awareness. The unconscious is a reservoir of thoughts wishes, feelings, and memories, that are hidden from awareness because they feel unacceptable. Personality develops in a dynamic interplay between conscious and unconscious processes including various motives and inner conflicts.
