Apperception interpreting the environment and finding meaning in what"s going on: thematic apperception technique (tat, rationale: current needs projected into interpretation of ambiguous stimulus, example: describing a picture with a narrative, a story. 14 pictures are selected to arouse one of the big three motives (achievement, power, intimacy). Motives internal states that arouse and direct behavior toward specific objects or goals. Motives differ in type and amount (hunger differs from thirst; both of these differ from the drive to achieve and excel).
