I can hear you but i"m choosing not to listen -moms: listening is a active and complex process. Full engaged: enhances your ability to understand people. You can elaborate on someone"s ideas (2) receiving messages. Can be impacted by our ability to hear. Physiological: deaf, fatigue, noise (3) select and organize. How we put information together and how we make sense of it. Men and women listen differently: girls listen to more detail, more relationship side, guys hear the literal side (5) respond. Can be verbal or nonverbal (6) remembering. You typically forget about 2/3 of things that you hear. In the ear, through the hand, never passing through the brain: listening obstacles. Overload: message overload, too much information, quantity. Message complexity: just don"t get it.
