Rayon this was made to recreate silk (artificial silk) Lyocell: made from wood pulp (cellulose) and is a form of rayon. Polyester: most used of the manufactured fibers, 1938 nylon was produced, the first synthetic fiber made completely from chemicals. 1958- spandex: elastomeric fiber, made to replace rubber (elastine) spandex made pantyhose possible. 1980s-microfibers: 2-3 time thinner than a human hair, hand like silk. Blends: two fabrics that are blended together, the most used are polyester and cotton (you must have more cotton than polyester), spandex and microfibers are also used in blends. Fibers are twisted into yarn until eli whiten introduced the cotton gin.
