Trade and a market economy industries growing, innovation, general incorporation, joint-stock companies and limited liability, slave trade: but this does not define america, not everything is about money, There are many things americans do that defy the idea that everything is done out of greed/want for money. Abolitionists know that keeping slaves would make one wealthy but they are against it because they know it is not morally right to treat another person like property.
