Expressive violence: violent behavior motivated by rage, anger, or frustration. Instrumental violence: violent behavior designed to improve the financial or social position of the criminal (shooting someone during bank robbery, multiple murder, mass murderer, kills many in one violent act (bombing, school shooter, etc. ) Spree killers: spreads murderous behavior over a few days or weeks. Serial killers: kills over a long period of time but assumes a (cid:498)normal(cid:499) identity between kills, sources of crime data. Definition: official crime data collected by fbi from local police departments. Part 1 crimes: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, arson and motor vehicle theft. Part 2 crimes: all other crimes, less serious such as misdemeanors, excluding traffic violations. Problems with ucr: reports are voluntary and vary in accuracy and completeness, not all police departments submit reports. Under reported is an issue: national incident- based reporting system (nibrs)
