Document Summary

Describe its four basic components: type of learning in which an organism comes to associate stimuli. Links may extend over several hours and some links are more likely to form than others: taste aversions- eats something and then throws up pretty quickly after. It can still develop after only one trail and can have very long delays (6-8 hours), and shows little generalization. Contradicts equipotentiality: preparedness- certain phobias also contradict equipotentiality. Evolutionarily predisposed to be more afraid of certain things (snakes, spiders). Instinctive drift- tendency for animals to return to innate behaviors following repeated reinforcement. iii: what is the role of behavior in distinguishing classical conditioning from operant conditioning? a. In classical conditioning, there is an emphasis on automatic responses to stimuli as a result of associative learning. Discuss some evidence for it: observational learning- learning occurs by watching other people"s behavior and observing the resulting consequences, bandura used modeling (imitation of specific behaviors) in children.
